Kerneatred is situated on a quiet road which leads to the Nantes-Brest canal. With it’s well maintained tow-paths the canal is popular with both cyclists and walkers alike, with the superb Le Chaland restaurant and bar a short, scenic walk along the canal.
Further up the hill from Le Chaland (The Barge) you come to the picturesque town of Chateauneuf-du-Faou, with it’s weekly market, historic church, shops and tabacs.
Across the valley from Chateauneuf-du-Faou, in a commanding position, sits the Domain Trévarez, one of the most recent chateaux to be built in France.
‘The Château de Trévarez is a stately home in the commune of Saint-Goazec in Finistère, in Brittany, France. The former manor house was built in the 16th century and the 17th century. The present structure was commissioned by James de Kerjégu, Chairman of the General Council of Finistère, and built at the end of the 19th century by the French architect Walter-André Destailleur. Trévarez is one of the most recent châteaux built in France. Construction was completed around the beginning of the twentieth century.
